The perfect party dress
It was my Grandma's 90th birthday party a couple of weeks ago and so I went in search of a little party dress for Bella. I thought the dress would also get some wear over Christmas too. You may remember me pondering over which dress to pick on my instagram stories.
I really struggled to find something that fits the bill: cute, classic, comfortable with a little bit of sparkle. With this in mind I thought I would put together a little post with the best of what I have found online. I have to say Monsoon feature heavily below simply because they really hit the nail on the head particularly in the 'Floral' and 'Silk' sections. Having said that they're not particularly affordable so I have found some cheaper options too, with a couple of real treats thrown in if you really want to blow the budget!
At Christmas the retailers assume every female in the country wants to cover themselves in sequins and sparkles. Personally it's not a choice I would make for myself, but on a little girl...that's a different story. I chose this navy M&S number it is currently out of stock but all three colours have dropped in and out of stock over the last week or so (pink and red). There were also some in my two local stores. I felt it was classic enough with a little sparkle around the bottom. Being velvet also ensured Bella was comfy. See below some more options if you want to bring the bling to the party (Obviously I don't expect ANYONE to buy the D&G one but I thought it was so amazing everyone should see it).
Tartan dresses hold special a place in my heart as it was often a print of choice for my mum when she was dressing me and my sister. I think they are a really sweet look around the festive period, especially in red (cliche I know).
A lot of people assume florals are just for spring / summer but I love a floral print in winter. I will often pick a dark floral dress for myself so I would more than likely do the same for Bella. The perfect choice to bring a bit of colour to the festivities.
Tulle skirts have become a huge trend in ladies fashion and they have become even more popular with girls' fashion. I think it's the idea of them looking like a little tutu? Or maybe that's my childhood obsession with being a Ballerina??
Silk / Satin / Taffeta
Finally the most traditional and probably my favourite style of party dress for a little girl. I love this look, and in a couple of years I hope to be dressing Bella in styles like the below - once she has stopped spilling food all over everything....although if she's anything like me that may never end! Monsoon feature heavily in this section, they do an amazing job at this style of dress. If I had I not left it so last minute I might have ordered one of the below for Bella.
When buying something like a party dress try and keep in mind what accessories / tights / shoes you have that will go with the dress you pick. If you have to buy new versions of all those items the cost will add up! Read more about how I 'shop smart' for Bella here.
