My January Favourites
These 'monthly favourites' seem to come around so quickly! January is done (that flew by) so here are my five favourite finds from the month.
Nike Active wear
Like the rest of the world I have been in the gym a lot this month, but for someone that loves clothes my gym gear is pretty limited and hugely unflattering. I've never really been one for spending a lot on activewear, more a TK Maxx kinda girl (they do have some fab bits in there). My husband on the other hand is often buying bits from the Nike store so when he received an email about a 'flash sale' I went on and bought a few items. As you can see I am really imaginative with my colour scheme, oh and check out the tomato face.
Room on the Broom
Over Christmas we downloaded and watched Stick man and The Gruffalo's Child. I think it was the first time we sat with Bella, all concentrated and fully watched something other than a five minute burst of Peppa pig. She was absolutely mesmerised, the animation is so beautifully done, it must cast a spell over her to keep her attention for longer than 3 minutes. A friend of mine told me that 'Room on the Broom' was also available to download on Sky. We watched it in the first week of January and it is definitely my favourite. The story is so sweet and again the animation beautiful. Like a lot of the Julia Donaldson classics it's centred around animals which Bella is really into at the moment and starting to say a lot (cat, dog, sheep, etc). We're are having to ration the watching of it as Bella has started picking up the remote and saying 'Broom, BROom, BROOOOOOOM'. I've also bought the book for her which we enjoy reading. I found this collection online which would make a really special gift.
I first heard about Kiko when my mother in law got me a couple of bits a few years back. She has an enviable makeup collection from high end to 'drugstore' and a fridge full of lipsticks!!! We always have a chat about our latest finds when we see each other so naturally I trusted her word when she raved about Kiko's products. This Christmas she gave me this mascara and I think it's one of the best I've used (along with my trusted L'oreal fave). It is so lengthening due to it's 'triangular fibres derived from maize which create eyelash “extensions” for a dramatic look'. I think when looking at the below it's fair to say the proof is in the pudding, blooming amazing product and so affordable.
I noticed I had been pinning lots of outfits featuring dungarees on my Pinterest page, so started to shop about for a pair. I think they are a good buy for spring and winter, paired with either a t-shirt or jumper underneath. I feel like a bit of a lump with a jumper under mine so I have been wearing with a t-shirt under and layering up with my chic wish cardigan where necessary.
My dungerees are Zara which I bought second hand on Depop but there are loads of styles available on the highstreet, ASOS have a really wide selection as always. See some options below:
Also, the t-shirt I am wearing above is from a 2pack at Asos where you get a white and black t-shirt for £10.
Toy Doctor's kit
My lovely cousin and fiancé came to visit recently and they bought Bella the CUTEST Peppa pig doctors kit. Bella loves it, not only does she adore Peppa Pig, she is also really getting into role play at the moment.
She keeps running at me with the thermometer, sticking it in my ear and saying 'beep' like I do to her. So weird the things these kiddos remember!
I know this is a toy she'll be playing with for years to come too - such a great gift idea. See some more options below:
