Welcome to my blog. Here I document our adventures with some style, interiors and food thrown in!

Babington House

Babington House

I recently visited Babington House in Somerset and I cannot recommend it enough. Part of the infamous Soho House group and the first house outside of London, I had high expectations and it did not disappoint.

I guess it was a bit of a baby moon but rather than going with Phil I took my best friend, mainly because I couldn’t wait to have some QT time with her.

We arrived around 1pm, too early for check in so headed straight to the pool area for a dip, spot of lunch and a lounge in the sun.

Also, I couldn’t resist an opportunity to have a pose up in my new cossie that was gifted to me from Boden.

We then decided to walk up to the main house and check in, can we all take a moment to appreciate this stunning reception area?!

I booked a Coach house room (Number 12) and we were totally blown away.

An absolutely enormous bed (apparently the biggest you will find in any Soho house hotel) just look at the width of it, must have been at least 7ft!

The room also boasts a spacious seating area with mini bar including complimentary tea and coffee - I recently learnt that some people find this very important and won’t book a hotel if they don’t offer this in the room?

The bathroom was also massive and made in pinterest heaven.

It was also fully stocked with Cowshed products, I didn’t realise that the Cowshed brand was actually born in Babington House’s spa in a (you’ve guessed it) old cowshed. I am new to the brand and have to say after my stay I am converted (more below).

It also had gorgeous views of the grounds, just make sure you pull the blinds down before going to the loo!

We then headed back to the main house for afternoon tea (complementary to all residents and members)

The fruit scones were 10/10, we settled outside and took in the views.

We then went for a walk around the grounds, there are wellies you can borrow for wetter weather.

We then headed to the Cowshed spa for the treatments I had pre booked.

There’s a whole range of maternity treatments (available from 12 weeks), I went for a ‘Udderly gorgeous facial’ and I can hands down say it was the best treatment I have ever had in a spa. Honestly it was heaven, so relaxing and beautiful products.

Also made special by the lady who did my treatment being so knowledgable and interesting to talk to. She used a balm from the Cowshed maternity range (Udderly Gorgeous) and I ended up buying after the treatment as I loved it so much. Find it here, I’m using it non stop now I am home. I need one of my friends to get preggo so I can but it for them!

Stephanie went for a pedicure and was delighted with her treatment too.

We chilled in the Spa lounge for a bit with some ginger tea and then wandered back to our room to make the most of it. Stephanie had got me a little present for our stay….a DVD she had made from the video of our 18th birthday party she had found at her mums house. Footage I never knew existed! Can you imagine? We saved it for after dinner and there was a lot of laughing / cringing, such a special surprise.

It was so lovely to just relax in the room before dinner with a cuppa and my robe on. Phil and I both said in Mauritius that the pre-dinner downtime is one of the things we miss most about holidays before kids. Now we tend to hang out on the beach / pool as late as possible to entertain Bella and then it’s always a bit of a rush to get washed, changed and ready before dinner as we tend to head out earlier.

Eventually we decided to change and walk up to the house for dinner, we had booked to eat in the Orangery but decided once we were settled in the bar to just eat there. It was ‘Taco Tuesday’ so we ordered a big platter to share with a pizza (random combination I know - hello weird pregnancy appetite). I have to say the food was excellent. We then settled into a game of scrabble where Stephanie whopped my a***. Safe to say I don’t use my brain enough these days….

We slept like babies in the heavenly bed, and in the morning we had a quick cuppa in bed (such a treat) and walked up to the main house again for a delicious breakfast with a view.

We then went back to the pool for a dip and chill before heading home.

If you’re looking a really relaxed and luxurious location for a few days stay I can’t recommend Babington house enough. It was perfection. You can book here, as a non member it will often flag up that dates are unavailable (perhaps to non members or because of an event) but if you play about with dates it should come up with availability.
